Jenny - Levento / Italy (Fri 12 Aug 2005)

Jenny - Levento / Italy (Fri 12 Aug 2005)

One of my favourite photos of Jenny. We had packed our bags and were ready to check out of our Apartment in Levento. Decided to take in the view of the town of Levento from the rooftop of the Apartment. I asked Jenny to stay where she was and I moved to the other side, zoomed in and made this photo. She was a natural in front of the camera and I think this photo shows this in so many ways.

Water - Ligurian Sea - Cinque Terre / Italy (Fri 12 Aug 2005)

Water (*) - Ligurian Sea (*) - Cinque Terre / Italy (Fri 12 Aug 2005)

If you look hard in the top left hand corner you will see a small boat - the traditional tiny figure in the landscape.

Found this great little quote yesterday which seems right for this photo ..
"You can't cross the sea merely by standing and staring at the water (*)"

Rabindranath Tagore (*)

Untitled - somewhere in mid-Manhattan (Wed 17 Aug 2011)

Untitled - somewhere in mid-Manhattan (Wed 17 Aug 2011)

The shadows from the fire stairs always caught my attention in New York. Not used to seeing such long shadows in the middle part of the day. Being so far away from the equator compared to Sydney no doubt explains it all. Just like the colour and composition of the buildings in the background and busy road in the foreground. A little bit of blue sky seems to be the little element that makes the photo really work for me. Always take lots of photos like this when traveling - case in point is here (shown below) ..

Favourite Photos: - Vernazza, Cinque Terre/Italy - Boats

This is another photo from our walk along the Cinque Terre, this time the boats in the Harbour of Vernazza, the fourth town heading into the Cinque Terre from the far town, Riomaggiore.

Just like the colour, composition and in particular the two small figures in the landscape - upper right and middle left.

Riomaggiore, Cinque Terre/Italy - 12 Aug 2005 - (picasa)

Really love the colour, flow and bordering of this scene.

The Cinque Terre was Jenny's selected location for our Europe 2005 Journey after the IDBF World Dragon Championships in Berlin. She had heard about it from one of the members of her Cancer Support Group who had recently been there. We were staying in Levento, a headland to the west of the Cinque Terre. Decided the best way to do the 20km Walk from Riomaggiore to Monterosso al Mare was to catch a ferry from Levanto to the far town of Riomaggiore. Have many nice photos from this walk which took us all day - it was quite a challenge due to the hot weather. Definitely one of the highlights from that trip in 2005. Jenny, Joanne and David all went for a swim at various locations along the way.

The above photo was one of the first of my digital photos that I had printed professional (at about A3 size).
