On Love, Inspiration and Purpose - Khalik Allah (Fri 01 Aug 2014)

Love Foundation - Amsterdam (Tue 20 Aug 2013)

Khalik Allah (*) responds to the following question On Inspiration (*) and purpose (*):
Question: how did you find your purpose (*)? how did you know? how do you tap into that thing that inspires (*) you deep within and never leaves? thank you. Bless

Khalik Allah (*): When you’re in love (*) you’re inspired (*). Love (*) is magnetic. If I love photography (*) then I’m just gonna keep being with it. If you wanna consistently remain inspired (*) then you gotta have a purpose (*) bigger than photography (*), and then do it for that purpose (*).

Obviously applicable to everything in our lives. Nice to see it so clearly abstracted and stated. Thanks Khalik (*).

On Listening to the Bass - Eric Kim (Fri 06 Jun 2014)

Solar Groove (*) by John Myung (*) performed by Uwe (*) - YouTube (*) Herford (*) / Germany (Tue 20 Aug 2013)

Eric Kim (*) writes on listening to Music (*):
[..] to get a richer experience listening to music, focus on listening to the bass (not the treble).
via Listening to the Bass in Street Photography (*) by Eric Kim (*).

One of the highlights from last years trip to Europe (*) was meeting up with Uwe (*) again. It was pleasure to watch and hear him play this challenging bass sequence.

I have always heard and felt the bass (*) in music. Maybe I see it in my photography as Eric points out in his post (*)? Also hope to one day learn how to play the bass, but only a 4 string for me. Uwe has already given me a few tips to get started.

On Photography - The Eye, Heart and Mind - Streetshooter (Sat 15 Feb 2014)

Heart - Amsterdam (Tue 20 Aug 2013)

Streetshooter (*) writes On Photography (*):
There exist many photos out there waiting to be born. Within those photos lives many that are just beautiful images that are for you to add to the definition of your self. If you can’t find them it is your fault and not theirs. If you focus on your Eye (*), Heart (*) and mind (*) then out there are those photos waiting for you. If you don’t focus on your Eye, Heart and Mind, those images are still out there but you won’t find them because someone else will..

On Letting Go - Jeremy Rolleston (Mon 13 Jan 2014)

Portrait - Amsterdam (Tue 20 Aug 2013)

Jeremy Rolleston (*) writes On Letting Go (*):
Give up the past (*). We’ve all been hurt, we all [..] made mistakes (*), we’ve all had challenges (*) and faced our own battles (*). But don’t let your past define your future (*). Our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but they don’t define our future – we are responsible for who we become and for our own happiness (*).

Street Painting - Amsterdam (Tue 20 Aug 2013)

Street Painting - Amsterdam (Tue 20 Aug 2013)

Just took a random look through some of the photos from the trip (*) that I uploaded to my iPad while on the road.

I remember this moment and time, and it caught my eye just now skimming throughout the photos. I like it as there is a lot going on in quiet way, and in some ways reminds me of the time here (*) two years earlier in New York City.

Played around with it in Snapseed and came up with the following details (I like to crop - it is fun to see what is in a photo). Here they are:

just because you have looked at something doesn’t mean that you have seen it. Just because something is available instantly to vision (*) does not mean that it is available instantly to consciousness. Or, in slightly more general terms: access is not synonymous with learning. What turns access into learning is time and strategic patience (*).

On Friends - Anastasia Taylor-Lind - Colin Pantall's blog (Fri 18 Oct 1013)

Uwe, Olja and Geoff - Herford (*) / Germany (Tue 20 Aug 2013)

Anastasia Taylor-Lind (*) writes On Friends (*):
Have a stable of friends and colleagues [..] these people can give you enough encouragement (*), motivation (*) and self-belief (*) to plough on and develop ..
via Dos and Don'ts of Anastasia Taylor-Lind (*) on Colin Pantall's blog (*).

Had the pleasure of meeting up with Uwe again after 13 years, and also to meet Olja for the first time. Thank you, you were great hosts.

It was nice to recount some old memories - Uwe was the driving force behind some amazing projects, back in the early days of open-source software in the Eiffel World - the eljeiffel project (this blog was a long dormant result of the project). I still use some of the resulting software tools and programing concepts on a daily basis.

It was great to talk about what has happened in the intervening years since we last met, as well as what is happening in our lives now, along with our future hopes.

I look forward to you being my guests sometime in the near future.
