The soft mid-winter midday light creates an even exposure across the areas in direct sunlight and allows some detail in the shadows to come out. I think the top photo is stronger because of the silhouetted figure and his mobile phone to his ear. It compliments the girl on the left looking at her mobile's screen.

As promised, the above is the first photo from my new S95 camera. A great little camera and one that I had always hoped Canon would release. Very similar to the G10 but much smaller physically. On top of that it has RAW file support.

Reminded me of one of my earlier posts (*) about Graffiti in Venice:

While the oil-and-canvas masterworks hanging in the city’s galleries may reflect of Venice the Renaissance era, it’s what’s painted on the outside of the museum wall that reflects what Venetians — at least the ones wielding cans of spray-paint — are thinking now.

My little 2 MB Canon IXUS captured this scene (*) brilliantly. It was a first generation digital camera, but in many ways my favourite camera.

10 years and a few day ago - still can remember taking this photo on the way back to Alexandria after work. Put it on photo.net (*) a few months later. Just seems like yesterday.
