Midnight Blue - Lou Gramm (youtube)

Midnight Blue by Lou Gramm - Michigan (27 Nov 2009)

Ain't got no regrets
I ain't losin' track of which way I'm going
I ain't gonna double back
Don't want no misplay, put on no display
An angel no, but I know my way, oh yeah, oh

I used to follow, yeah, that's true
But my following days are over
Now I just gotta follow through

  1. Wow, sounds like you had a pretty eventful time after I left! That part of the course was pretty tough, I had Paul drawing left while I was poking right just to keep on course. Two other crews hulied in our race and it sounds like the conditions got even tougher in the afternoon.

  2. It was only tough on that one leg.

I had Meising working hard paddling or drawing left when I was poking right which was pretty much all of the time. She was fantastic as were the rest of the crew.

I think I might have just got a little adventurous as we had another mixed crew in a Spirit coming up on our outside.

Learnt a lot about what and what not to do in those tough conditions. I hope the crew can forgive me. They were fantastic in getting the canoe righted, bailed and underway in about 4.5 mins.

Congratulations on your race. You were brilliant.

  3. Not so sure about that, but thank you! We had one brilliant bit in our race - three sets flying on an incredible wave - but there were a couple of things I'd do differently next time. I'd never steered the Spirit before, and had some trouble with the turn; we were overtaken on the inside by another crew, but that actually worked in our favour because we put on a bit of speed to catch them, duelled with them for a while, and then... they hulied. We probably did a better time because of them.

I can scrub out the bits I wasn't so pleased with and focus on the glory of catching that wave. It was magic.
