Tree - Kowloon Cricket Club Park / Hong Kong (Thu 12 Jul 2012)
What's a trip without a photo of a tree.
Just stumbled across this park on the edge of the cricket field. Sat here under the cooling canopy of the trees for quite while. A beautiful quiet place to relax for a moment, yet only a block off the ever busy Nathan Road.

On Finding a Voice - Vandalog (Thu 26 Jul 2012)
From Graffiti Underworld: Villains, Vandals and Visionaries — An Intimate Look at a Subculture (*)
Graffiti is the perfect opportunity to find a voice. Otherwise you would never find a voiceReminded me of one of my earlier posts (*) about Graffiti in Venice:
While the oil-and-canvas masterworks hanging in the city’s galleries may reflect of Venice the Renaissance era, it’s what’s painted on the outside of the museum wall that reflects what Venetians — at least the ones wielding cans of spray-paint — are thinking now.

On Thanks: A Reward for the Experience - Drew Ginn (Wed 25 Jul 2012)
Two days before the London Olympics start, Drew Ginn (*) writes some thank you's. He notes (*):
thanks should not come because of a result or particular place it comes as a reward for the experienceWell said Drew and obviously many thanks to you for sharing your experiences and knowledge so openly and articulately. There is a great book in the making from you blogging over the last 5 years, of which I have been there since April 2007 (wow, it has been that long).
All that is left now is the final preparation (*) and then the racing. As one my own coaches does not believe in the the phrase Good Luck, I will leave you with this (*) from Super Coach Vern Gambetta (*):
[..] you have done the preparation [..] you are in control and you have given yourself a chance. [..] it is not the hand of fate that will touch you rather it is your fate that is in your hands.Still, I can't help myself, by saying all the best and good luck.

Street Scene #2 - Portland Street / Yau Ma Tei / Hong Kong (Mon 09 Jul 2012)
The G10 did a great job to capture the range of light in this one.
We ate at the Happy Restaurant that night (the sign can just be seen). It's speciality was beef where nothing is wasted.

Inspire Award 2012 - Pacific Dragons - Tony "Mouse" Pound (Sat 21 Jul 2012)
Inspire Award 2012 - Pacific Dragons - Tony "Mouse" Pound (Sat 21 Jul 2012)
A few words (*) and a short video (*) after Tony "Mouse" Pound was presented with the 2012 Inspire Award ..
Joanne and I would like to thank Pacific Dragons (*) for Honouring Jenny’s Memory (*) with the Annual Presentation of the Inspire Award (*) – this being the 3rd time it has been presented since she left us (*) on Tue 30 Jun 2009.We Remember Jenny - The Time of Your Life..
We congratulate Tony Pound ("Mouse") the 2012 Inspire Award Recipient.
We know Jenny would be smiling from above and would no doubt be wondering, like the rest of us here "How’s Mouse's Mother's Chooks" are.
We also like the direction of the award has taken.
Being an Annual Award it becomes something of an Anniversary for Joanne and I to celebrate and remember Jenny's life, as the Club and its Members recognise the Achievements of one it's member - Mouse for the 2011/2012 season.
We hope it is also an opportunity for all of us to remember and honour those that have been close to us and have influenced our own lives but are no longer with us.
We also hope it is a time to acknowledge those close to us who are facing their own challenges in life. We hope Jenny's life can be an example as to how to live a fulfilling life with a life-threatening illness as well as provide some hope, belief and inspiration to face the challenges and changes that lay ahead.
So, as it is with all Anniversaries, it is a time reflect on the year just passed and to celebrate on what has been achieved and so tonight we celebrate Mouse's Achievements since coming to the club two seasons ago.
I think, more importantly, for Anniversaries, it is a time to look to the future and set new goals.
This can be challenging as often the path is full of obstacles as well as self-doubts. It almost always requires change, which can be step into the unknown. This is all risky business and the fear of failure and making mistakes can quickly put a stop to all good intentions.
I think those people who inspire us often overcome these obstacles and fears, with the common theme in all of their actions, being the word Belief (*), which is something Jenny had plenty of.
Belief gives us a purpose and intent as we strive towards a goal.
A photographer I follow recently wrote [Alex Coghe (*)] about belief in the context of photography, but it can be applied to all aspects of our lives. It is succinct and goes:"If you believe, you are stronger and the light will reward you."Basedy on my own life experiences I know this to be true [A longer version here (*)].
We congratulate you all on another great year with Pacific Dragons.
Finally, we thank you and the Club for the Amazing Experiences that are created for us and we share together. For you see as Seth Godin wrote:"The experiences we create [and share] are the moments that define us."We look forward to the season ahead and we hope you are having .."The Time of Your Life."
Live Long and Prosper .. Geoff and Joanne (Sat 21 Jul 2012)
Postscript (Mon 23 Jul 2012): I wanted to add the following quote (*) into the video but did not have the time to work out. So here it is ..

Barriers - Lam - Mong Kok / Hong Kong (Mon 09 Jul 2012)
This photo has surprised me after printing on an A3 sheet of paper. It has everything I like in a photo - colour, shadows, lines and an interesting lighting effect. In the late afternoon sun, the print has an amazing luminous about it that I have rarely seen in my photos.

Praying Mantis and Graffiti - Mong Kok / Hong Kong (Mon 02 Jul 2012)
These two photos seem to go together. They were taken close together and in the same block. They seemed to reflect the unique and local character (and lines) of Hong Kong.
Even the Praying Mantis (*) and graffiti have a Chinese characteristic to them.
The Praying Mantis (*) was only 2cm long but was not shy and very protective of his territory. Amazing self-confidence in it's own abilities.

What do you give when there's nothing left to give? - Drew Ginn (Sun 15 Jul 2012)
Drew Ginn (*) gives some insights in Training Update: IN the ThiCk of iT (*)
So when I have thought 'No More' I have simply asked, why?and he adds (*):
With this I have also opened my eyes wider, opened my mind, and opened my body up to experience what needs to happen to improve. And there is more (*):
With 'no more' comes 'knowing more' and its only through getting stuck that we can appreciate getting un-stuck.Typical Drew at his abstract and convoluted best. A great read which takes a few times to digest.
We must hit a wall to know whats its like to pass or over come one.
We must be without an answer or solution to realise what its like when we can find a way.
Being in the thick of it is critical to success as its in the times of stress, loss, thickness and heaviness that we can learning, realise and appreciate another state, way or experience.

I am in there somewhere with my trusty G10.
Love the almost indistinguishable and unrecognisable layers in this one.
